Eccentron

EDI helped develop the first prototypes of the Eccentron.  The Eccentron was a unique way of exercising by working your muscles eccentrically rather than the more concentric forms of exercise.  It is quite often used for rehabilitation as it can build strength while minimizing stress on the heart.

Senoscan Mammography Machine
(Fischer, Hologic)

EDI worked on the motion control system for the Fischer Imaging Senoscan.  This was a high resolution digital X-ray scanner for breast imaging.  Because of the scanning mechanism the radiation exposure is minimized.  EDI also participated in an NIH grant to integrate X-ray scanning with ultrasound.  Several important papers and a patent resulted from the work.
